Stefan Sagmeister is an industry legend. The Austrian-born designer moved to New York in the ’90s and worked with Tibor Kalman’s M&Co design company before setting up his own studio in 1993. Since then he’s worked with musical legends such as Talking Heads, Aerosmith and Brian Eno. The Hard Thing About Hard Things, by Ben HorowitzThe best business book I’ve ever read. Harsh, realistic, grounded, straight, and gruesome. The best advice comes from people who have made severe mistakes and lived to talk about it, and that’s what you’ll get from this book. So as exciting as it is to get to write about my four favourite books, on taking a step back it really sports a bit of an eclectic mix in both genre, as well as a split between ‘wordy novel’ and… picture-books. Hopefully the range is useful! These books can be read over and over again, but I always try to leave a suitable time period between reads to ensure I can’t remember them word for word (or try my best not to anyway).
