HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A police investigation into a shooting is underway. Hendersonville Police Department's communication director confirmed that police responded to a call about a shooting at Brittany Place Apartments around 8:15 p.m. on Monday, April 28. The police department said the shooter is in custody and the victim was taken to the hospital with "apparent" non-life-threatening injuries.

SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Fire crews are working to slow the spread of a wildfire in Swain County that prompted several evacuation orders and forced one school to close Monday. According to a post on the county's Emergency Management Facebook page, crews are focusing on building containment lines to keep the Sam Davis Road Fire within Sam Davis Road to the east, Lower Alarka Road to the south, Mountain Side Drive to the west and Potato Ridge to the north.

McDowell County Emergency Management issued an evacuation order for all residences on Wild Acres Road due to a wildfire that's reached 175 acres and 0% containment. The fire, now being referred to as the Bee Rock Branch Fire, is currently burning south of Wild Acres Road and north of Armstrong Creek Road in northern McDowell County. The fire is near Little Switzerland. The evacuation order includes Wild Acres Retreat.
