McDowell County Emergency Management issued an evacuation order for all residences on Wild Acres Road due to a wildfire that's reached 175 acres and 0% containment. The fire, now being referred to as the Bee Rock Branch Fire, is currently burning south of Wild Acres Road and north of Armstrong Creek Road in northern McDowell County. The fire is near Little Switzerland. The evacuation order includes Wild Acres Retreat.

MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — On Wednesday, March 12, a wildfire impacted traffic on I-40 around 4 p.m. It occurred on Old Fort Mountain near the Buncombe County line. As of Thursday morning, the wildfire has reached around 4 acres and is 90% contained, according to the U.S. Forest Service. The U.S. Forest Service confirmed to News 13 that a car caught fire, leading to the wildfire.

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Hundreds of Helene victims will have to find new housing in two days as FEMA’s Transitional Sheltering Program largely comes to an end on Friday, March 7. Pamela Rutherford’s been living at a Hendersonville Best Western for two months covered by FEMA’s hotel program. Rutherford said the program for her is ending. FEMA said 1,884 households in Western North Carolina are in hotel rooms provided by FEMA's TSA program as of Wednesday, March 5.
