    CHARLES CITY, Iowa - Residents had to evacuate after a Sunday night fire at an industrial site in Floyd County. The Charles City Fire Department (CCFD) says it responded to a 911 call around 8:40 pm about heavy smoke coming from a building in the 2300 block of Old Highway Road. CCRD says crews arrived at the scene to find heavy smoke and flames pouring from a building owned by Hawkeye Mold and Design Company.

    CHARLES CITY, Iowa -- An evacuation order is in place as a fire is burning at Hawkeye Preferred Tooling Group, an official source tells KIMT News 3. The official says the call came in around 8:40 Sunday night. The evacuation order is for a 1/2 mile downwind from where the fire is happening.     Chickasaw County EMS is mourning the loss of one of its own. In a Facebook post on Sunday morning, the agency said EMT Brock Schmidt passed away. He spent over over 17 years as a firefighter and EMT in multiple departments. "He made a positive impact on countless lives, and we are all better people for having known him," the post said.     ROCHESTER, Minn. -- The former Minnesota State Patrol trooper charged in a crash that killed an Owatonna teen is pushing to have nearly all of the charges against him dismissed. Shane Roper is charged with several felonies, including second-degree manslaughter for his role in the crash that killed 18-year-old Olivia Flores on May 18 outside the Apache Mall in Rochester. A criminal complaint says Roper had a pattern of speeding without activating his emergency lights.
