    MASON CITY, Iowa -- Mayor Bill Schickel announced in a news release on Friday morning he will will not be seeking reelection for a sixth term in the fall. Schickel is Mason City’s longest serving mayor, currently in his fifth four-year term. He also served three terms in the Iowa House of Representatives. “It is certainly not an easy decision because I love this job and I’m more optimistic about the future of Mason City than I have been in my lifetime,” Schickel said in a social media post.

    ROCHESTER, Minn. -- The Grand Marshal of this year's Rochesterfest is now announced. During a press conference on Thursday, Rochesterfest Executive Director Randy Stocker said it is former Rochester Fire Chief Eric Kerska. "Eric's 30 years of dedicated service to the Rochester Fire Department have made a lasting impression on the community," said Stocker. Eric Berg, the winner of this year's Rochesterfest button design contest, was given a $300 check for winning the contest.

    MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Democratic representative Angie Craig is throwing her hat in the ring in race for U.S. Senate. Craig currently represents Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District, which covers the south Twin Cities metro area. She was elected to Congress in 2018, defeating Republican incumbent Jason Lewis. She's the latest Democrat to enter the race in hopes of winning Sen. Tina Smith's seat. Lt. Gov Peggy Flanagan and former state senator Melissa Lopez Franzen are also campaigning for the seat.

    KIMT NEWS 3 -- Authorities say a woman missing in the Twin Cities was last known to be in Rochester, and that she is trying to get to Iowa. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Jean Baynham, 65 was last seen around January 15 waiting at a bus stop in Brooklyn Park near Zane Ave, North & Oak Grove Pkwy. "Jean has mental health issues that could affect her decision-making abilities," the BCA said. "There are no indications that Jean has any of her prescribed medications with her.
