WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A traffic stop turned into a pursuit through McPherson County on Thursday, ending in the arrest of a felony suspect after a foot chase through a flooded field. According to the Moundridge Police Department, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle in Moundridge. The driver refused to pull over, sparking a pursuit that continued into rural McPherson County. The vehicle eventually stopped near the intersection of 15th Avenue and Chisholm Road.

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Wichita Fire Department rescued a kitten Friday morning. The rescue happened at the Walgreens at Harry and Edgemoor. Several members of Station 9 pulled the kitten out after it became stuck in a drain. Once they were back at the station, one member had his mother pick up the kitten. TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas State Fire Marshal says 2025 fireworks season officially begins today, June 20, and ends on Sunday, July 7. It is a change from the nine-day fireworks sales season that Kansans are used to, as the 2025 legislature expanded the time allotted for seasonal fireworks sales to 18 days each year. Cities and counties have the authority to prohibit and further restrict the use, sale, and storage of fireworks within their boundaries.
