The race has happened every year since 2004, but it is rare to see temperatures as high as they are this year. The high temperature for Saturday is expected to be 101°, which could be a record for April. Arizona’s Family has issued First Alert Weather Days due to the record heat.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily)— Scottsdale City Council voted 4-3 to drop a previously approved roundabout project. A stoplight will now be installed at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Dynamite Boulevard. The move will force the city to give back nearly $30 million in federal funding that was part of a safety improvement grant. Construction for the project initially began in December. The roundabout was approved in 2020.
