After testing a lockbox program in northwest Phoenix for two years, the city opted to expand the endeavor citywide. It is meant to prevent property damage and quickly get life-saving support to seniors and disabled persons at a time when seconds can be a matter of life and death.

Even after an uproar of opposition from hundreds of his neighbors, a Phoenix man will continue selling guns out of his north-central home. That’s despite a decision by the city’s judicial body on zoning cases to revoke the permit allowing Mark Benz to operate his home-run firearms business near Central and Glendale avenues, along the historic 5-mile Murphy Bridle Path.

Axon's president blamed the Scottsdale City Council for a "toxic environment" hindering negotiations. Phoenix leaders recently commissioned a study to examine commuting patterns on Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street where reversible lanes are used in rush hour. City traffic engineers also will look at the effects of those lanes on the major arterials within a mile and a half to the east and west of them.

If you’ve looked at a map of planned and proposed developments or simply driven around Maricopa County’s cities, you’ll notice that the Valley is dotted with new projects. Developers and construction crews have for years been working to keep up with the rapid and sprawling growth of metro Phoenix. Such expansion necessitates infrastructure improvements, as well as grocery stores and gas stations. Most importantly, it requires new housing opportunities, plus some fun amenities.
