A section of the Rochdale Canal has been cordoned off by police following the discovery of a man's body in the water. Emergency services, including police and firefighters, were called to the scene near Varley Street, Miles Platting, at approximately 10.30am this morning (April 18) after receiving reports of a person in the canal. Police confirmed that a man was sadly found dead at the location.

A rescue operation is believed to have been taking place in a Manchester canal. Police and firefighters have been seen in attendance at the Rochdale Canal, in Miles Platting, this morning (April 18). The exact nature of the incident is yet to be confirmed, but it is believed emergency services are responding to a serious incident. Emergency services were seen working on the canal, close to Varley Street.

Concerns are growing for DanielPeople are being urged to look out for a missing man from south Manchester who was last seen almost 24 hours ago. Greater Manchester Police says Daniel was seen leaving Cotfield Road, in Wythenshawe, at around 11.30am on Thursday, April 17. The 29-year-old has not been seen since. His surname has not been given by GMP. Daniel is described as being 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build and with mousy brown, wavy hair.
