WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, also known as PETA, made a stop at a Warren restaurant on Saturday. The organization was outside the Buena Vista Cafe with its “Hell on Wheels” demonstration. It’s a life-sized hyper-realistic chicken transport truck, meant to address concerns over how chickens are treated on their way to restaurants.

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (WKBN) — While several communities will be holding Fourth of July celebrations, that will not be the case this summer in East Palestine. Friday the East Palestine Volunteer Firefighters Association announced on social media that it has canceled its celebration and fireworks show for this year. The group cited ongoing revitalization at East Palestine City Park along with no other viable venue to host the festivities.

(WKBN) – The state of Ohio is investing nearly $2 million to help support businesses and enhance communities. Two local projects will receive that help. Balance Investment, LLC will get $665,000. It comes from the Regional 166 Direct Loan Program, which provides low-interest loans to businesses that have limited access to getting funding privately. That money will go toward renovations of a warehouse building on Sferra Avenue NW in Warren. The City of Columbiana will get $198,000.
