Armed gardai have arrested one individual after an intelligence-led operation targetted a notorious criminal gang. The major operation - involving air support - carried out a raid on a group located in Limerick who had burgled properties in Galway, previously. The group are suspected of burgling both businesses and residential properties throughout the region as well as stealing high-value vehicles. As a result of the raid, a man in his 30s was arrested in Limerick City.

A meeting was held last night in a Galway community that showed not one person in attendance in favour of opening an IPAS centre in the town. Locals in Oughterard and several local politicians were in attendance at the meeting which saw "not one" person vote in favour of an IPAS centre. Locals have created a protest group and are regularly adding new members and hope to launch "the biggest protest ever seen" if the green light is given to set up an IPAS centre and remove the Ukrainians.
