The 22-year-old Sioux Falls resident’s body was discovered on Memorial Day weekend by a family hiking in the remote area. The family first spotted her shoes, tossed along the pond’s shoreline.

Jennifer Baechle, 43, was arrested in April in connection with the death of the days-old baby, referred to by the community as “Baby Angel.” The arrest came after a DNA match revealed she is the biological mother. Baechle is facing two counts of manslaughter.
