630 ABC North Queensland is a local radio station from the ABC, situated in Townsville and serving the North Queensland area. This includes nearby towns such as Bowen, Charters Towers, Ingham, and Ayr. The station first went on air in 1936 under the name 4QN. Initially, it functioned as a relay station that provided coverage across North Queensland with only a few local news updates. However, during the 1960s, the station expanded its local programming. It also became the regional hub for ABC Television in Townsville, Cairns, and Mount Isa.
