CHATSWORTH, N.J. (AP) — A man set wooden pallets on fire and failed to properly put them out in New Jersey's Pine Barrens, sparking a quick-moving wildfire, authorities said Thursday. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Shawn LaTourette said the Waretown man faces aggravated arson and arson charges in the southern New Jersey wildfire, which authorities said Thursday morning grew to more than 23 square miles. 1 / 1 Model Railway trains are on display at the Royal Botanical Gardens. The exhibit is displayed indoors at the Robert Stipe Garden House, a short walknthrough the outdoor Rock Garden to access. The large G-gauge trains and smaller HO with well-known Canadian markings of CP Rail and vintage steam engines. Locals will see Easterbrooks Hot Dogs and trains entering and exiting mountain tunnels in this wonderful display.

Violent offences down in Halton; overall crime rate highest in Burlington

While the crime rate in Halton has remained virtually unchanged year over year, the rate of violent crime in the region dropped by almost 10 per cent when taking population growth into account. According to the crime statistics presented at the most recent Halton Region Police Board meeting, there were 2,377 violent crimes reported in Halton in 2024 -- 141 fewer than the previous year.
