Police are investigating the theft of approximately 800 litres of gasoline from a commercial tank located in the 8000 block of Old Waneta Road near Fruitvale. The incident was reported to Trail RCMP at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 4. A frontline officer responded and launched an investigation. According to RCMP, a man connected to the theft was seen operating both a red truck and a white Ford truck during multiple incidents.

Castlegar lifeguard Meagan Wyatt has been recognized by the Lifesaving Society for her "invaluable leadership" in the Kootenays. Wyatt has been an instructor for the Lifesaving Society since 2008 and has served as a national trainer since 2019. Castlegar City Council has voted to extended two separate ground maintenance contracts for two more years. Kootenay Ground Maintenance (KGM) was awarded $82,882 for interchange landscape maintenance at key city entry points including the Robson Interchange, Highway 3 Interchange, and Rotary Interchange. The contract includes mowing, irrigation, steep slope mowing, seasonal start-up and winterization and ongoing care for UV-filtered and illuminated waterscapes and irrigation systems.
