Penn State center Yanic Konan Niederhauser has made program history. Niederhauser was selected with the No. 30 overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in Wednesday’s NBA draft, becoming the Nittany Lions’ first player ever taken in Round 1. Niederhauser is also the first Penn State player drafted since Jalen Pickett and Seth Lundy each became second round picks in 2023. Niederhauser is now set to join Pickett, Lundy and Lamar Stevens as the only four former Nittany Lions currently in the NBA.

Penn State has added another piece to its tight end corps of the future. Pierce Petersohn, a four-star prospect from Dodge Center, Minnesota, announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions on Wednesday. Petersohn, who also plays quarterback at Triton High School, is ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 21 athlete and No. 342 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. He chose Penn State over his home-state Minnesota Golden Gophers.

A Penn State wrestler who was charged earlier this year with resisting and evading arrest following an incident at a fraternity house has been accepted into a pre-trial intervention program for first-time offenders. Braeden Davis, 20, was placed in a six-month Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program on June 18 by Centre County Judge Julia Rater, according to court records.

A Snow Shoe man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly attempted to rape a woman at gunpoint and fired a shot into a wall in his apartment. Robert L. Collar, 59, is charged with felony counts of attempted rape by threat of forcible compulsion and discharging a firearm into an occupied structured, along with misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.
