DEAR ABBY: I’m engaged to a delightful woman from a foreign country. She’s a divorcee, and her 19-year-old son is doing well in college. She essentially raised him herself. Because of some spectrum disorder and ADHD symptoms, her son was apparently a handful. I am healthy, have multiple advanced degrees (including an M.D. and a Ph.D.), and have enjoyed a successful and lucrative career. I have raised six happy, healthy and independent children. The first featured a white Minnesota woman named Shiloh Hendrix, who allegedly spotted a Somali child rifling her diaper bag at the park; she then reportedly called the child the N-word. An irate park-goer with a rather questionable background then followed her down the street while filming her and yelling at her; she responded by doubling down. The video, as it generally does nowadays, went viral.

As Trump and friends claim control over the country, celebrating their war on migrants – “the enemy” of the moment, whom they’ve created and dehumanized – much of America writhes in shock and irony as it looks on. The president who hates criminals is also our criminal-in-chief. But fortunately (for him), he’s above the law! Court rulings don’t apply to him – not when he’s busy keeping America safe from the boogeymen.
