Inside Retailing is a global trade publication and online platform dedicated to the retail sector, created by Octomedia. Originally known as Inside Retailing Weekly, it began as a printed weekly newspaper in Australia in the early 1970s. Over time, it evolved into a bi-monthly magazine and expanded its reach with a free website that launched in June 2006.

Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) is inviting restaurants, cafes, bars, and fast-food outlets to become part of its 24-seven dining offerings. WSI will have more than 20 sites comprising about 2300sqm of leasable space for food and beverage outlets in the new terminal. Food and beverage operators that completed an extensive registration of interest process may now tender to join the airport’s retail and hospitality precinct when it opens late next year.

A new survey by financial platform Money has shown that Australians still want the option to use cash despite the growing popularity of digital payments. Of the 1000 Australians surveyed, 68 per cent believe all businesses should be required to accept cash. An additional 14 per cent want essential services such as supermarkets and pharmacies to continue offering the option. “Australians are using less cash overall, but they still believe businesses should be required to accept it.

The Coffee Club’s CEO Scott Meneilly will leave the hospitality chain to lead Pedders Suspension & Brakes from June 23. He is the first non-family boss for the 75 year-old aftermarket automotive brand, and it is Meneilly’s first non-food appointment since 2008. Meneilly has spent nearly two and a half years at the Minor DKL Food Group, undertaking a rebrand of the multi-format cafe and restaurant chain.

Super Retail Group has flagged another margin decline in the second fiscal half despite recording sales growth across its businesses. In a trading update for the first 17 weeks of the second half, the company said its gross margins were tracking below the prior comparable period. It added that the trend was broadly consistent with the year-on-year decrease in the first half. Meanwhile, group total sales for the period rose 4.5 per cent and like-for-like sales grew 3.1 per cent.
