KNX (1070 AM) is a commercial radio station located in Los Angeles, California, specializing in an all-news format. It is owned by Audacy, Inc. and is one of the oldest radio stations in the United States, having started operations as KGC in December 1921, with roots tracing back to an amateur station that began broadcasting in September 1920. The station shares its studios and offices with KNOU, KCBS-FM, KROQ-FM, KRTH, and KTWV, all situated on Miracle Mile in Los Angeles. KNX operates under a Class A license and is recognized as one of the original clear-channel stations designated by the 1928 General Order 40 band plan. Its powerful 50,000-watt non-directional signal reaches much of Southern California. With a good radio, listeners can even tune in at night across a large part of the Western United States, as well as in some areas of Mexico and Canada. DXers in Hawaii and across the Pacific Ocean have also reported receiving the signal. The transmitter is located in Columbia Park, Torrance, near the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard (California State Route 107) and 190th Street. Additionally, KNX is authorized to provide a digital HD Radio signal and is accessible on the FM band through KRTH-FM-HD2's digital subchannel.
