Wilkes-Barre Area scored five runs in the top of the seventh to rally for an 8-5 victory over Pittston Area in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 softball game Monday. Jordan Prushinski, Kayce Martin and Hope Burke all had two RBI for the Wolfpack, who defeated Pittston Area for the first time in the program's history. Madalyn McGuinness had a double. Prushinski pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts. Gabby Gorzkowski had two doubles for Pittston Area. Lili Hintze had a double and single.

Every night, before I go to bed, I have my nose in a book for at least half an hour. Reading is typically a solitary activity, one that requires a reader's attention to details, eyes glued to a book's pages. IF YOU GORead Rose Books has two more reading retreats scheduled for this year, on June 8 and Sept. 28. While they are both currently sold out, co-owner Elizabeth Peters says that more tickets may be released ahead of the events. Admission to the events costs $60, plus a $1.50 ticketing fee.

CONNEAUT - The sport of basketball took center stage Sunday afternoon at New Leaf Event Center as the Ashtabula County Basketball Foundation honored a wide variety of accomplishments during the organization's banquet. Twelve men and women were honored for their service and accomplishments in basketball, and many young players received accolades for their more recent success.

HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP - Representatives from Cleveland's three major sports teams showed up Monday to promote a message of good decision making at SPIRE Academy. The teams threw their weight behind a rally at SPIRE Academy for hundreds of high school students as they prepare for prom season. The event was sponsored by Ohio Safe Communities and school districts in four counties.
