    Well folks, it was a wild weekend weather-wise around the area and it certainly affected sporting events around the region. The Aitkin Flying Gobblers were in Bemidji for a tourney when bad weather hit and destroyed fields and property and ended up getting the tournament canceled.     The State track meet is over for the Class “A” participants and the Aitkin Gobblers should be pretty pleased with their efforts. Brita Westman didn’t make the finals in the 100m hurdles, but Isaiah Baker and Ashley Asmus brought home medals in two of the three events they were entered. Baker won the silver medal, second place in the triple jump Tuesday and Ashley Asmus finished sixth in the 800m run Wednesday after leading the 400m in a time of 1:08.526.

    The 2025 Rumble at the Roost was another huge success and the Aitkin Flying Gobbler teams did quite well with the 10U and the 12U Red both winning championships.     The Aitkin Steam baseball team outhit the Opole Bears at Woock Field Sunday, but came out on the short end of a 4-2 score. The Steam took a 2-0 lead into the eighth, but the Bears scored four runs to take a 4-2 lead and that was the extent of the scoring. Jake McGuire had three of the nine hits recorded by the Steam. Aitkin took a 1-0 lead in the fifth. McGuire reached on a dropped third strike, but was picked off base for the first out.
