The SAPD is searching for a bank robbery suspect who fled on a bike

Robbery Detectives are attempting to identify and locate this suspect involved in an attempted robbery at a local bank in Santa Ana (address and the name of the business is being withheld for investigative reasons), according to the SAPD. On 4/30/25, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, and placed a handwritten note against the glass, claiming to have a firearm.

On May 12, 2025, police officers responded to Vista View Middle School regarding a report of a student possibly in possession of a firearm, according to the Fountain Valley Police Department. Three 6th grade students were detained in connection to the incident. A search of their backpacks led to the discovery of a semiautomatic handgun and ammunition. Preliminary investigation indicates this was not an active shooter incident.

Patrol officers were conducting proactive enforcement in the area of Warner Avenue and Rene Drive when they attempted to stop a vehicle for code violations, according to the SAPD. Of course the vehicle failed to yield, and a police pursuit ensued before the suspects eventually surrendered. Officers searched the vehicle and found 1,000 grams of methamphetamine, 29.4 grams of fentanyl, and a loaded revolver that the suspects had attempted to discard.

On May 4, a 21-year-old man was spotted by a police officer driving at dangerously high speeds through town, according to the Irvine Police Department. When the officer called a red flag and tried to stop the aspiring “Max Verstappen,” the driver evaded the officer. In the interest of safety, the Irvine police officer decided to put the brakes on the pursuit. The driver made a dramatic pit stop at Irvine Valley College (IVC) and he then took off on foot.

In November 2023, OC Sheriff Cold Case investigators identified a deceased John Doe found in unincorporated Laguna Hills in 1974 as Michael Ray Schlicht, 17, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Michael was long believed to be a victim of Kraft. In early 2024, investigators began looking through the Kraft investigation to find evidence related to Schlicht. While searching, investigators found evidence related to a 1980 John Doe from Oregon, who was also presumed to be a victim of Kraft.

Santa Ana Police Detectives have arrested a secondary suspect for a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. On June 5, 2024, Santa Ana Police responded to a shooting near 900 W. Bishop Street, where they found two juvenile males—ages 13 and 16—suffering from gunshot wounds. A third juvenile victim, also age 13, was found nearby but was unharmed. Unfortunately, the 13-year-old shooting victim later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

On Saturday, May 10, at 8:03 a.m., O.C. Sheriff deputies responded to a disturbance call in the area of Ridge Route Drive and Moulton Parkway, Laguna Hills. Multiple callers stated that a male subject with two knives was seen in the area. A deputy located a male subject.
North O.C. DUI checkpoint resulted in 11 citations and one arrest last Friday

A D.U.I. and Drivers License Checkpoint was conducted on Friday, May 2nd at East Yorba Linda Boulevard between Kraemer and Bradford. The Placentia Police Department had 28 police officers and other personnel working at the checkpoint including Supervisors, 0fficers, Dispatchers, Parking Control Officers, Jailers, Cadets, Explorers, and Administrative staff. They all worked from 4:00p.m. to 2:00a.m. to set up, operate and take down the checkpoint.
