They will meet Allentown Saturday in the state Quarterfinals. –The Mars girls fell 11-10 in overtime to Twin Valley, ending their season. The Seneca Valley boys volleyball season came to a close following a 3-0 loss to Central York in the PIAA First Round. The Seneca Valley baseball team will play Cedar Cliff Thursday in the state Quarterfinals.

    The Houston Astros shutout the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-0 last night in the opening game of a three-game series at PNC Park. All three Astros runs came via two home runs. Paul Skenes allowed one run on three hits over eight innings. He struck out eight and lowered his ERA to 2.05. His record fell to 4-6. It was a major league-leading 10th shutout of the Pirates this season. The Pirates managed only four singles in the game.

He was born in Pittsburgh on October 29, 1956, to Raymond Sr. and Loretta “Lori” (St. Clair) Tomczak. Rick graduated from Knoch High School and was employed as a lifelong heavy equipment operator. Rick was an expert in his field and was highly sought after. He was known for being kind, generous, and was always willing to help others and was a friend until the end.
