PLOS Medicine
PLOS Medicine, which was initially known as PLoS Medicine, is a weekly medical journal that is peer-reviewed and covers a wide range of topics within the medical field. It was launched on October 19, 2004, as the second journal from the Public Library of Science (PLOS), a non-profit organization dedicated to open access publishing. All articles in PLOS Medicine are available under the Creative Commons "by-attribution" license. To support the journal financially, authors are generally required to pay fees for publication. Initially available in both online and print formats until 2005, the journal now exists solely in an online format. Larry Peiperl has been the chief editor since 2013, taking over from Virginia Barbour, the previous editor.
