The Battalion

The Battalion, commonly known as The Batt, is the official student newspaper for Texas A&M University. It began in 1893 as a monthly publication and has grown to be a daily newspaper. Before The Battalion, the first newspaper at Texas A&M was the Texas Collegian, which started in 1878. This paper underwent a name change to the College Journal from 1889 to 1893 before becoming The Battalion.

    In a highly anticipated showdown between the top two teams in collegiate women’s tennis, the No. 2 Texas A&M Aggies faced off against the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in the ITA Indoor Championship Finals. It was a rematch of the 2024 NCAA National Championship, where A&M made history by securing its first national title with a dramatic win over Georgia. This time, however, the Bulldogs got their revenge with a dominant 4-1 victory to claim the indoor crown.

    The No. 17/19 Texas A&M swimming and diving teams closed out their regular season with a tough matchup against No. 2/1 Texas, falling to their in-state rivals in the return of the Lone Star Showdown. The Longhorns dominated the meet, winning 218.5-80.5 on the men’s side and 197-102 on the women’s side. The meet kicked off with Texas winning the first three dive competitions in dominant fashion as the Burnt Orange took all the diving competitions but one.

    In its first game without senior guard Aicha Coulibaly, Texas A&M women’s basketball suffered a 72-51 loss against Arkansas. Coulibaly, the Aggies’ leading scorer at 12.8 points per game, suffered a season-ending knee injury last Sunday in the 64-51 loss against LSU. “We’ve been saying all week there’s not one person who can replace what she does,” coach Joni Taylor said. “I think that we’ve got to rebound by committee, we’ve got to score by committee, we’ve all got to be committed to being tough.
