    Bucks Council says it is dealing with ongoing issues with its special needs education transport system which led to some children being kept at home in Aylesbury. Aylesbury MP, Laura Kyrke-Smith, said numerous parents in her constituency contacted her when schools re-started on Monday to raise concerns with changes to the council’s transport service. One parent told The Bucks Herald a special needs child was left in Oxford after no taxi was arranged to collect them after school.

    The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning in Aylesbury as it warns of potential thunderstorms coming this weekend. A new warning has been issued by the agency which comes into effect tomorrow. It lasts from 9am to 6pm and covers large parts of the south of England.

    Lidl has submitted plans to Bucks Council to open a fourth supermarket in the Aylesbury area. There are currently two Lidl supermarkets operating in the Aylesbury area, a third is currently being constructed at the site of the former Stratstone Land Rover showroom on Buckingham Street. Now plans for a fourth Lidl in Aylesbury have been formally made. A planning application, submitted to the local authority last month, requests permission to build a new 1,850sqm shopping complex.

    Thames Valley Police has confirmed the closure of a property located in Aylesbury. A full closure order has been granted after the police force was able to prove the home was linked to criminal activity. Thames Valley Police says the home is located within the central area of Aylesbury. Police intelligence showed that drug-related anti-social behaviour took place at the building, which it is also claimed was used to stolen goods, and harbour wanted individuals.

This morning, Florence Nightingale Hospice and South Bucks Hospice confirmed they are planning to merge by September this year. The charities are looking to join forces to address growing demand for hospice care, which they link to the ageing and growing population. Rising costs in a difficult economic environment has also been mentioned as a key reason for the merger.
