The Journal - Upstate Today

The cost to adopt a shelter animal will increase as the Johnson County Animal Shelter continues to combat rising care costs for surrendered animals. The county animal shelter started charging the new adoption fees on Monday. The shelter is also preparing a new marketing campaign to get more animals adopted. It now costs $200 to adopt a dog, $100 for a cat over six months old and $125 for kittens under six months old.
