Senators have approved the City of Hamilton Plan 2025, which removes rigid limits on building heights in the City, among other changes. Mischa Fubler, the Junior Minister of the Cabinet Office and Digital Innovation, said the plan offered a framework to transform Hamilton and ensure that it is functional, vibrant, people-centred and economically resilient. Andrew Murdoch, the Governor, met with royalty this week in London - King Charles III and the Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Bermuda Regiment. A spokeswoman said that the Governor, as Commander-in-Chief of the RBR, met the Duchess of Gloucester in Kensington Palace on Tuesday, when he provided her with an update on the RBR's recent activities. The Duchess has served as the Colonel-in-Chief for the RBR since 2006, and is a patron of the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art.

Senators passed legislation last night aimed at reducing land tax and ending payroll tax on redundancy payments. Crystal Caesar, the Minister of Education, said the Land Tax Amendment Act 2025, approved by the House of Assembly on Friday would halve the base land tax from $300 to $150 effective January 1, 2026. The Senate heard that the measure was intended to help ease economic pressures on landowners and tenants.

A man has been arrested after a stabbing at Queen Elizabeth Park this afternoon. A police spokesman said that at about 3.30pm officers and other emergency services responded to a reported disturbance at the park. "Upon arrival, a male victim was found with a stab wound to his torso," the spokesman said. "He was attended to at the scene by EMTS and subsequently transported to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where, at last check, he continued to receive treatment for his injuries.
