PORT HURON — Here are the highlights from Saturday's regional finals in high school softball. Algonac 4, Clawson 2Michael Kenel batted 2-for-4 and had two RBIs for Algonac (23-14-1). Jaycee Reams and Kayla Raines both finished with one hit, one run and one RBI. The Muskrats advanced to Tuesday's Division 3 state quarterfinal against Millington at Mott Community College in Flint.

CROSWELL — When Katie Shuboy is on the mound, it's difficult to stop the Richmond softball team. When she's given ample run support, it's practically impossible. Saturday was a clear example, as Shuboy and the Blue Devils defeated Marysville, 7-3, in a Division 2 regional final at Lyle M. Clarkson Field. The senior threw 10 strikeouts and allowed just one hit for Richmond, which improved to 29-7-0 overall and advanced to Tuesday's state semifinal against Goodrich.

LANSING — For years, the Almont girls soccer team had been knocking on the door. On Thursday, it busted right through. The Raiders overcame an early deficit and outlasted Frankenmuth, 2-1, to win their first-ever regional championship. Callie McCarthy and Lola Battaglia both scored goals for Almont, which improved to 17-4-2 overall and advanced to Tuesday's Division 3 state semifinal against Warren Regina.
