    2 1/1 A woman has been found guilty of setting fire to an Oxford City Council owned flat. Kathleen Rooney, of Nuffield Road, Oxford, was found guilty of one count of arson. Rooney, 32, was on trial at Oxford Crown Court this week after denying the charge. She was accused of leaving two tealights burning near to ‘cigarette material’ when she left the property in Nuffield Road, Headington, for ‘upwards of an hour’.

    St Aldates Post Office (Image: Ed Nix) The Post Office has said it plans to offload its last remaining directly-owned branches, including in Oxford, putting around 1,000 workers at risk. It confirmed that 108 crown branches, including in St Aldates, which are currently directly owned and run by the company will be handed over to franchisees by the autumn. The process could see the sites taken over by large franchising businesses or postmasters themselves.

The opening 45 minutes were light on action, with Josh Parker’s snapshot easily saved by Chris Renshaw.
