Chester & District Standard's
The Chester Standard is a weekly newspaper that is available for free in the Chester region, reaching an audience of 102,000 readers. Since July 2006, visitors to Chester have the option to purchase the paper for 40p at various shops, but it continues to be delivered at no cost to local residents. This publication is part of the Chester Evening Leader family and is produced by NWN Media. In 2008, the Chester Standard was recognized by the UK's Newspaper Society as the Free Weekly Newspaper of the Year for the North West, North East, and Yorkshire regions.

Pixel Perfect, written by Chester playwright Andy Fox-Hutchings, will run at Chester Little Theatre on Gloucester Street from Saturday, June 28, to Saturday, July 5, with performances starting at 7.30pm. Directed by Charlie Nunez, the play tells the story of Michael and Sophie, whose seemingly perfect life exists only within an online video game.

The first incident occurred at about 3.30am on Saturday, June 21, when police were called to reports of an alarm activation at Nationwide on Bridge Street, Congleton. On arrival officers found that an unknown offender had gained access to the building via a first-floor window. CCTV footage showed the offender searching the premises before fleeing the scene empty handed. Then, at 4.26am on Monday, June 23, police were called to reports of a break in at the same premises.

Waterways charity Canal and River Trust plans to carry out works to Sutton Weaver Swing Bridge, which crosses the River Weaver near Frodsham. The bridge, which celebrates its centenary next year, requires vital works to replace and repair existing mechanical and electrical elements to ensure the 100-year-old structure is safe and fit for purpose, the trust says.

The title was awarded by City of Sanctuary UK, a nationally co-ordinated network of organisations and services, including councils, universities, theatres and libraries that welcome and support refugees and people seeking asylum. A celebration event was held at the university’s Exton Park campus on Tuesday, June 17, with the presentation made by Rev Dr Inderjit Singh Bhogal OBE, founder and President of the City of Sanctuary movement.
