WPGC-FM (95.5 FM) is a popular radio station in Washington, D.C., known for its urban rhythmic format. The station is licensed to Morningside, with its studios located in the Navy Yard area of Southeast D.C. Broadcasting on the FM frequency of 95.5 MHz, WPGC-FM operates at an effective radiated power of 50 kilowatts (kW) from its tower situated in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Previously, the WPGC name was also used by a sister station, WPGC 1580 AM, which focused on urban gospel music; however, that AM station now broadcasts Spanish-language sports as WJFK. In 2005, WPGC-FM embraced modern technology by starting to broadcast using IBOC digital radio through the HD Radio system developed by iBiquity.
