TAMPA, Fla. -- The Milwaukee Brewers optioned right-handed pitcher Tobias Myers to Triple-A Nashville and recalled right-handed reliever Elvis Peguero on Sunday. Myers, 26, was sent to the minors one day after he allowed two runs, three hits and three walks over four innings in a 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. After starting the season on the injured list with a strained left oblique, Myers has gone 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in five appearances, including four starts.

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- What was originally thought to be a minor shoulder injury was serious enough for the Los Angeles Angels to transfer reliever Ben Joyce to the 60-day injured list Friday. The 24-year-old right-hander, whose 105.5 mph fastball to strike out Dodgers utility man Tommy Edman last September was the hardest pitch thrown in the major leagues in 2024, went on the 15-day injured list because of shoulder inflammation on April 11.

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Milwaukee Brewers shuffled their infield bench options by recalling Andruw Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville and designating Vinny Capra for assignment on Friday. In another move announced before their Friday night game with the Tampa Bay Rays, the Brewers recalled left-handed pitcher Bryan Hudson from Nashville. Monasterio played 92 games for the Brewers in 2023 and 59 last season but had spent all of this year in the minors.

Rodríguez, 27, has an 0-2 record and 8.68 ERA in six appearances with Milwaukee this season. He has allowed seven homers in 18 2/3 innings.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have fired manager Derek Shelton, the team announced Thursday. Shelton's dismissal comes as the Pirates (12-26) have lost seven straight games and 10 of 11. They have already fallen 10 games back of the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central. Shelton had managed the Pirates since 2020, going 306-440 overall without posting a winning record.
