    MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV/Gray News) - After three years of service and more than 300 deployments, K-9 Axle completed his final shift with the Mooresville Police Department. Axle’s last day on the job was Aug. 31. Police released a video of Axle’s 10-42, which is a call to dispatch often used when an officer retires. Axle had 323 total deployments, 283 of which were detection. The beloved K-9 recorded 135 arrests and one criminal apprehension.

    PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV/Gray News) - Bowser the tortoise was returned home Thursday after being on the run for two days. On Thursday, police found Bowser walking along Interstate 205 in Portland, Oregon. An officer with Multnomah County Animal Control learned that the tortoise had been reported missing on Tuesday from his home. He lives about 1.5 miles away and on the other side of the interstate from where he was found. Bowser’s owner picked him up from animal control.

    ATLANTA ( WANF/Gray News) - A woman is recovering after being bit by a venomous spider. Jessica Rogue, 44, said she encountered several brown recluse spiders while cleaning out a shed outside of her home in Georgia. "I was just in there sweeping, I immediately felt something on my face next to my eye. I felt I got bit," she said. Rogue said the brown recluse spiders bit her in multiple places, including her face. "There were spiders on me.

    SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA/Gray News) — Three people were killed and four others were injured in a high-speed crash involving a stolen car. At 2:20 a.m. Sunday, deputies with the Caddo Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash. When they arrived, they discovered a stolen 2005 Toyota Camry overturned at the scene. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office identified the deceased victims as Devion Patterson, 19, Jamario Washington, 18, and Zaleia Young, 17. The coroner’s office said all three were dead at the scene.

    PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. ( WWBT/Gray News) -Firefighters freed a boy who found himself stuck in a planter. The video has gone viral on TikTok. Prince George County firefighters received a call Thursday night after "curious little adventurer" Adonis "Donnie" trapped himself in a planter and needed the help of professionals to rescue him. Donnie's mom, Ebony Chappell posted the video on TikTok. It now has more than 1 million views and more than 43,000 likes.
