For the fourth consecutive year, the number of people in Ventura County dying from drug overdoses dropped, according to the county medical examiner’s annual report on the deaths. The bad news is there were 200 deaths attributed to overdoses in 2024; the good news is that number, the lowest in five years, was down 24.5% from the year before and represents an almost 31% decrease since 2021 when the number of overdoses was the highest in county history at 289 deaths.
