The weekend begins on a cloudy note with lingering showers possible Saturday morning following a soggy Friday night. Rainfall amounts across the southern portion of the Chicago area could be significant, with numerous locations picking up more than 1 inch. This could potentially lead to river rises and flooding of fields, creeks and ditches.

An active weather pattern is setting up at times this weekend. Scattered showers are possible for parts of the area beginning Saturday afternoon and into Saturday night. But, of greater concern is on Sunday, when there is a chance for stronger storms, some of which could be severe. There is still some uncertainty about where active storms will precisely set-up. The forecast will be fine-tuned throughout the weekend as newer data becomes available and we get closer to the event.

Tuesday afternoon’s abundantly blue skies will turn cloudy as the evening progresses. Most of Chicagoland will remain dry but some areas may see a light rain shower. Look for temperatures to bottom out at about 30 degrees. Overcast skies will linger early Wednesday morning, but skies will gradually clear by/during the afternoon with temperatures returning to the 50s away from the lake. A lake breeze will keep temperatures in the 40s near Lake Michigan.
