NYM. It’s been a struggle finding a reliable reliever in the Mets bullpen since the trade deadline outside of Edwin Díaz, as they take fliers on a bunch of guys and see what sticks approach hasn’t exactly worked out. Phil Maton has been the best option (1.84 ERA, 0.95 WHIP), but whether or not that is sustainable (3.72 xFIP, 25% K, 9.4% SwStr, 81 Stuff+) remains to be seen.

+ Ranking baseball's top setup options for the 2024 season. We have a few lefties charging up the board this week, all names we have seen in the top 50 or so on this list in the past due to their strikeout upside. I talked about Anthony Banda last week when covering the Dodgers bullpen, and how Banda appears to have moved past Alex Vesia in the pecking order. Since the All-Star break Banda holds 28.2% K-BB rate, 22.3% SwStr and 37.2% CSW rates as well as a 2.26 xFIP over 18 innings.

+ Top 100 RP rankings for Saves + Holds leagues in 2024. Porter Hodge, Grant Holman, Raisel Iglesias, Tyler Kinley, Jared Koenig, Chris Martin, Joel Payamps, Evan Phillips, and Drew Smyly all had three SV+HLDs this past week. Holman is an intriguing fastball/changeup relief prospect in the A’s organization. Despite the tough season, Kinley has pitched much better as of late, but he still has Coors to deal with. Smyly isn’t consistent or good enough to crack the top 100 yet.

+ Top 100 RP rankings for Saves + Holds leagues in 2024. Bryan Abreu, Yennier Cano, Camilo Doval, Kyle Finnegan, Craig Kimbrel, Trevor Megill, Tyler Rogers and Tayler Saucedo all had three SV+HLDs this past week. Lots of closers and top set up options in this group which is to be expected, but Saucedo is a bit of a wildcard here and someone who just missed out on making the list this week.

+ Top 100 RP rankings for Saves + Holds leagues in 2024. Jhoan Duran, Hunter Harvey, Ryan Helsley, and Griffin Jax all had at least three SV+HLDs this past week as well. I said “at least” because Duran had a whopping five SV+HLD’s, which I believe this may be the first time I’ve ever seen that in one week. Perhaps even more wild is that he really didn’t pitch all that well, with a 1.615 WHIP and only three K’s.
