    Three people were injured in a shooting Friday afternoon near a DeKalb County shopping center, police said. One victim has critical injuries and two others have moderate injuries after being shot in the 1100 block of South Hairston Road, according to DeKalb police. No identities have been released.     A 12-year-old boy was killed in a drive-by shooting Thursday night in southwest Atlanta, police said. Those responsible remained on the run late Thursday. Atlanta police Chief Darin Schierbaum said investigators were “actively pursuing all leads” to find the shooter. Officials received a 911 call shortly after 7 p.m. reporting shots were fired in the 3200 block of Cushman Circle. There, authorities said, they found the child with an apparent gunshot wound.

    At least one person was detained Tuesday night at large immigration protest on Buford Highway that ended with tear gas and fireworks hurled at police. Hundreds attended the rally, which began at 6:30 p.m. in Brookhaven and was held in response to recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests nationwide and in the metro Atlanta area. An Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter at the scene witnessed about three people being detained by police.

    A woman was arrested after an 8-year-old was shot Friday evening at a South Fulton apartment complex, police said. The incident happened in the 4300 block of Cascade Road, just south of I-20 and west of I-285. South Fulton police spokesperson Tori Cooper said officers found the child with a gunshot wound to the leg. The child was taken to a nearby children’s hospital. Their condition was not released.

    In the span of just minutes, a good Samaritan was able to stop two carjackings in Cobb County and prevent the suspect from running away. The carjackings happened Monday evening near the intersection of Delk Road and Franklin Gateway in Marietta. In both instances, police said 66-year-old Gary Edwards ran to help the victims. “Choosing to intervene in a violent situation must be a personal decision, weighed carefully against the risks involved.
