TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — People living along the Shalimar Golf Course in Tempe say the lack of maintenance after the owner shut down the course isn’t just an eyesore; it smells horrible, too. ”This has been a gem of a place for Tempe,” said Elba Quintero. The gem is now losing its shine. Neighbors said the owner closed the course and turned the water off in April. Arizona’s Family shot aerials of the golf course last year when the grass was green and maintained.

The Governing Board for Tolleson Union High School District (TUHSD) voted 4-1 to approve a lease agreement with a developer to turn 12 acres of district land into affordable housing. The board also passed plans to purchase two pieces of land for millions of dollars.
