In this issue of Blood, Liu et al assess the impact of JAK2V617F clonal hematopoiesis on arterial thrombosis by combining an epidemiologic meta-analysis of 3 large cohorts with the study of JAK2V617F murine models.1
The JAK2V617F mutation is the main driver of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), resulting in a constitutively activated JAK-STAT pathway and subsequent myeloid lineage proliferation.

Outcomes after ileocolonic resection in Crohn’s Disease (CD) are heterogeneous and a clear definition of postoperative recurrence remains to be determined. Our Endpoints Working Group of the International Organization for the study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IOIBD) aimed to standardize postoperative outcomes, to discuss which endpoints should be used for postoperative clinical trials and to define those which could be used in trials or registries.

Bone and joint infections (BJIs) are difficult to treat and affect a growing number of patients, in which relapses are observed in 10–20% of case. These relapses, which call for prolonged antibiotic treatment and increase resistance emergence risk, may originate from ill-understood adaptation of the pathogen to the host. Here, we investigated 3 pairs of Escherichia coli strains from BJI cases and their relapses to unravel adaptations within patients.

Interstrand crosslinks (ICLs) represent a class of highly toxic lesions that covalently link the two DNA strands, thereby blocking cellular processes such as transcription or replication. As ICLs are particularly toxic to proliferating cells, ICL-inducing agents have been used in the clinic for decades, especially for cancer therapy (1).
