These fair weather clouds will begin to thin out and we’ll be 65° at 7:51pm sunset. The full “pink moon” rises at 7:49pm. Daybreak Sunday most of us drop into the 40s, 50° at the beaches, 47° Savannah, and 43° in Vidalia. More sunshine Sunday afternoon with a light NW wind 5-10mph and highs in the low to middle 70s. Monday a big jump in temperatures.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - One more very warm day with sunshine until big changes for the upcoming work week. Waking up to 70 at the beaches to 63° in Baxley. The clouds thin out becoming mostly sunnyn and we warm quickly to the low 80s by lunchtime. Highs this afternoon will be 80° at the beaches, 87° in Savannah, and some of us could hit 90° south of the Altamaha. A cold front will swing through Monday with rain storms, some of which could be strong to severe.

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - Construction crews are four months into fixing the Hunting Island Lighthouse. It’s the only publicly accessible lighthouse in the state of South Carolina and it was falling apart from the inside out. Work began this past October of 2024, but it was closed two years ago- deemed unsafe. Pieces of the cast iron spiral staircase inside falling off. The timeline of completion is 400 days so it could be finished by the end of this year.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A unique structure abandoned and bit run down got a special designation this week. Years of lobbying for the Savannah Powder Magazine paid off. WTOC’s Jamie Ertle explained the achievement and what’s next for the historical building. “The building is designed in the Gothic Revival style. It’s really cool. A lot of people call it a little castle; it has a crenellated parapet at the top,” said the Director of City of Savannah Municipal Archives, Luciana Spracher.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - It’s a warm and windy day across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry with temperatures in the upper 70s away from the beaches, though Hilton Head is at 70°. We’ve had wind gusts of 32mph in Sylvania, 29mph in Savannah, and 31mph in Claxton. We have humidity in the teens and 20s and that plus the wind is fuel for fires. We are under a Red Flag Warning until 8pm this evening. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
