AbstractToll-like receptor 7 (Tlr7) deficiency-accelerated severe COVID-19 is associated with reduced production of interferons (IFNs). However, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. To address these questions, we utilize Tlr7 and Irf7 deficiency mice, single-cell RNA analysis together with bone marrow transplantation approaches. We demonstrate that at the early phase of infection, SARS-CoV-2 causes the upregulation of Tlr7, Irf7, and IFN pathways in the lungs of the infected mice.

In a hearing on Tuesday, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office offered to drop half of the 10 counts of criminal vehicular homicide against Derrick John Thompson if he pleads guilty to the other five counts. His presumed sentence under those terms would be between 32 and 39 years. The charges accuse Thompson, 28, of operating a vehicle in a grossly negligent manner and leaving the scene of the crash where five people died.

As the Minneapolis City Council weighs the future of ShotSpotter, the city’s police chief is pushing to expand the technology. The devices detect the sound of gunfire throughout certain areas of the city, and police say the technology is used daily by officers and dispatchers that helps with investigations.
