CHANDLER, Ariz. — A three-year-old boy is in critical condition at a Valley hospital after being pulled out of a backyard pool, according to the Chandler Fire Department. CFD told 12News that crews were called to a home on the 5000 block of East Elmwood Place, which is just south of the intersection of Chandler Heights and Gilbert roads. The department said Chandler police officers got to the home first and found a three-year-old who was unconscious after being pulled out of a backyard pool.
Preston's Law: Gov. Hobbs signs bill aimed at targeting violent group assaults

PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) signed a bill into law on Monday that changes how the state prosecutes gang-style assaults in response to the attack that killed 16-year-old Preston Lord in 2023. House Bill 2611, which was sponsored by state Rep. Matt Gress (R-Dist. 4), changes the definition of aggravated assault to include a physical assault by a person who is then aided by two or more accomplices. This type of crime will now be a Class 4 felony in Arizona.

WASHINGTON — An Arizona congresswoman levied a heavy accusation at one of her colleagues, accusing the chair of the House Natural Resources Committee of corruption over stock trades he made. In a hearing on May 6, Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-Dist. 3) accused Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-Arkansas) of improper trades, which amount to more than $1.6 million. All of the shares are of companies overseen by the committee Westerman chairs.

Gregory spoke with reporters for the first time on Tuesday after being named the Suns' GM on May 1, taking over for James Jones, who had been the GM for seven years and is now a senior advisor for the Suns.
