VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) — Heavy rain and strong winds have left behind damaged buildings, split trees and scattered branches in southeast South Dakota. City crews in Vermillion wasted no time clearing streets and yards Tuesday morning, but the storm didn’t slow down after it left city limits. There was quite the aftermath left behind thanks to at least 60 mile per hour winds Monday night. The wind caused a building to collapse just east of Burbank. You could see debris across the street.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Storms rolled across southeastern KELOLAND Monday night and into Tuesday morning, and some areas got it worse than others. KELOLAND’s Jordan Desmet is in Vermillion, where the storm damage is pretty severe. He sent photos of the damage and will have a report on how cleanup is going on KELOLAND News Tuesday night. Elk Point had the highest rain total with more than 4 inches, while Vermillion had more than 2 inches of rain.

After weighing factors such as location, availability to utilities and to emergency vehicle access among other things, the group recommended for the task force to take a closer look at six of the possible 13 sites, with one familiar location leading the way.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A few local businesses are showing their support for a Sioux Falls non-profit. Sunday’s Beer, Bourbon and Beef fundraiser helped The Teddy Bear Den impact over 1,000 women. As people mingled and enjoyed live music from the GoodRoad band, they were also supporting The Teddy Bear Den, a non-profit that supports low-income pregnant women.
