    PAINT TWP. -- Clarion played its first game of the season at County Park on Thursday (April 17), beating visiting North Clarion, 15-0, in a three-inning, “mercy rule” contest. Clarion had 11 different players get at least one hit during the game with the Bobcats totaling 14 base knocks overall. Five of those hits went for extra bases, highlighted by Derek Smail’s and Noah Harrison’s back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first.

    DUBOIS -- Clarion-Limestone took its sixth consecutive loss to start the season on Friday (April 11) at Stern Family Field in DuBois, falling to St. Marys 11-6. Despite being out hit by the Flying Dutch, 14 to 4, the game never really got away from the Lions. C-L played opportunistic baseball by taking advantage of five St. Marys’s errors. “We’re putting balls in play, we’re putting pressure on guys,” reported C-L manager Colby Himes.

    NEW BETHLEHEM -- Redbank Valley used a five-run first inning as a springboard to a 13-3, six-inning victory over visiting Central Clarion in KSAC softball action last Wednesday (April 9). On his team’s performance, Redbank Valley manager Lee Miller said, “Overall, I thought we did pretty good. We started fast and finished fast. The bats slacked a little bit halfway through the game, but it was a good win.

    DUBOIS -- Clarion scored six runs in the first and cruised from there to beat the Keystone 14-2 in six-innings Saturday evening at Showers Field in DuBois (April 12). Clarion manager Rob Jewett thought his team played a complete game, “All three facets of the game worked today. I used a whole bunch of pitchers to get them some innings, they all came in and threw strikes, even if they were off a little bit.

    CLARION – Fifteen area artists, working in a variety of media, will gather this Sunday, April 6, at the Haskell House in Clarion to exhibit their work at the United Way of Clarion County’s (UWCA) Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA)-sponsored Artist Showcase and Reception. The event runs from 2 to 5 p.m.Tickets are $10, which, in addition to admission, includes small appetizers, cookies and beverages (coffee, water). A cash bar, with limited cocktails, wine and beer, is available.
