PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Federal funding cuts are hurting food banks and the people they serve nationwide, including St. Mary’s in Phoenix. The cuts come at a time when the food bank is seeing record demand and gearing up for a busy summer with kids out of school. “We’re seeing more people than we have at any other time and now we may see an increased amount with the summertime and the possible people losing SNAP at a time when the food supply is shrinking,” Jerry Brown with St. Mary’s Food Bank said.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A new study shows Phoenix ranks among the bottom five cities in the country for ozone pollution. The American Lung Association lists Phoenix as the fourth most polluted city in the United States for ozone, only behind three California cities. The report shows our ozone levels are worst than big cities like New York, Dallas and Chicago. In the report, the Phoenix area received a failing grade for the number of high ozone days. The area also received an F for particle pollution.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Southwest Airlines is ending its longstanding “Two Bags Fly Free” policy, which has been a cornerstone of the airline for more than 50 years. Southwest first announced the change in March, and it goes into effect on Wednesday. New checked bag fees will apply to flights booked on or after May 28, 2025.
