WASHINGTON — The White House on Friday hung a painting of President Donald Trump depicting a moment after an assassination attempt against him last summer — bumping the official portrait of one of his predecessors, Barack Obama. Hanging a new presidential likeness without advance notice is unusual, and Trump putting himself in that space could be seen as him breaking with norms yet again.

The state Attorney General’s office wants a judge to bar a Beaver County contractor from doing home improvement work in Pennsylvania, alleging James D. Martin and his company, Martin Lawn Services, have time and again taken money from customers and failed to complete the contracted work. The lawsuit, filed by Attorney General David Sunday Jr., points to seven civil judgments entered against Mr. Martin, who also goes by Doug Martin, since 2022.

A Butler County man threatened to kill President Donald Trump, immigration officers and other federal-level advisors, writing on YouTube that he would “assassinate [Trump] myself,” according to federal charges unsealed Friday. “Nah, we just need to start killing people, Trump, Elon, all the heads of agencies Trump appointed, and anyone who stands in the way,” Shawn Monper allegedly wrote in a YouTube comment in mid-February.
