It was a long day for Arizona State football coach Kenny Dillingham. For his team as well. Dillingham served as the race starter for the 21st annual Pat's Run on April 12, which started in the parking lot adjacent to Mountain America Stadium and ended at the 42-yard line inside the venue. So, he was on site by 5 a.m.The entire team was there, too.

The Arizona State football program was expected to generate some momentum on the recruiting trail after its unexpected Big 12 championship last season. It has. Coach Kenny Dillingham landed his 10th recruit in the 2026 class with the pledge of three-star edge rusher Julian Hugo out of Steele High School in Cibolo, Texas on April 10. Hugo selected ASU from 27 offers, which included most of the Big 12 as well as USC, UCLA, Michigan State and North Carolina.

Trenton Bourguet remembers diagramming his first plays as early as 4 years old. So, it shouldn't be a surprise that he landed his first full-time coaching gig at the ripe old age of 25. Bourguet, a native of Tucson, spent six years as a quarterback at Arizona State and became a fan favorite even though he was not a starter through the majority of that tenure. Loyalty like that is rare in the college football landscape because quarterbacks usually transfer if they don't win the starting job.

Running back Raleek Brown transferred to the Arizona State football program from USC a year ago with some lofty goals. He wanted to rush for 1,000 yards and record 700 yards in receptions. Ask him about his goal for the 2025 season, and he's got something different in mind. "I want to make it through the whole season healthy," he said. That was a problem last season, as the 5-foot-9, 185-pound dynamo was slowed by a hamstring injury that led to him taking a medical redshirt.
