PHOENIX (AZFamily) — More than one year after the deadly stabbing a food vendor in Phoenix,, police have announced multiple arrests. On Monday, Phoenix police announced that Cameron Patterson, 33; Montel Reed, 32; and Cyrus Reed, 36 are all facing charges related to the murder of Heriberto Acosta. Officers were called out to the area of 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 17, 2024.

CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — An East Valley toddler is fighting for his life after being pulled from a backyard pool Monday evening. Chandler police responded to a drowning at a home near Chandler Heights and Cooper roads before 7 p.m. When authorities arrived, they found a 3-year-old boy who was pulled from a backyard pool and needed medical attention. Officers arrived and started CPR before paramedics arrived. Fire officials say the boy was rushed to Chandler Regional Hospital in critical condition.

KINGMAN, AZ (AZFamily) — Authorities in northwestern Arizona have identified a suspect who died after being shot during a SWAT standoff in Kingman last Friday. According to the Bullhead City Police Department, around 2 p.m., Mohave County deputies responded to the area of Ty Street and College Drive for reports of an armed man pouring gasoline inside a home. He has now been identified as 56-year-old Jack Lagerwey of Kingman.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs has signed House Bill 2611 into law, targeting group attacks after the death of East Valley teen Preston Lord. Better known as Preston’s Law, the new legislation establishes harsher penalties for aggressors in lopsided assaults, also known as swarming. “Preston’s Law ensures that those who commit violent acts as a group will face real consequences,” said state Rep. Matt Gress, who was the bill’s sponsor.

FORT MOHAVE, AZ (AZFamily) — A man in northwestern Arizona is now in jail after deputies say he tried to stab his mother to death over Mother’s Day weekend. According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday to the Fort Mohave Fire Department after a man reportedly walked into the fire station and said he had stabbed someone. The man, identified as 27-year-old Alexander Cody Walch, was detained by firefighters until authorities arrived.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A disturbing discovery was made when skeletal remains were found on the property of Tovrea Castle, a historical landmark, on Thursday. Officers responded to reports of a body found near 50th Street and Van Buren Avenue around noon. When they arrived, they were told that a demolition crew was about to demolish an old house where they found the remains. Aerial video showed a heavy police presence in a desert area located on Tovrea Castle property.
