A Queens man racing another driver at speeds of 125 mph on the LIE late Friday night was stopped and cited by Suffolk police, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. The Suffolk County Street Takeover Task Force stopped 27-year-old Khadim Ndoye just before midnight on the Long Island Expressway. He was racing a 2018 Audi S5 against a BMW going west near Exit 49 in Melville, Suffolk police said in a news release.

Long Islanders could see record-breaking warmth on Saturday as forecasts suggest temperatures could get into the low 80s on some parts of the Island, according to the National Weather Service meteorologist Matthew Wunsch. Saturday’s high temperature is forecast to be 76 degrees in Islip, near the center of the Island. The historic high there for April 19 is 82, according to weather service meteorologist Matthew Wunsch. He said that record could be broken on Saturday depending on how the wind blows.

Suffolk County police are investigating a fire at an auto body shop in Selden on Saturday morning, according to an email from the agency that said the cause of the fire is "believed to be noncriminal." It will be a chilly, rainy weekend on Long Island with showers expected on Saturday through Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The temperature on Saturday isn’t expected to break 44 degrees. Kyle Muller spent four years in the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Hawaii and Japan before arriving home to Queens in 2020, just as the pandemic was ravaging the country and the then-23-year-old’s future career prospects. Muller was out of work. He enrolled in college to study fire science and got a job as an apprentice elevator mechanic to make ends meet as he waded through the uncertainty, hoping to eventually continue his career of service as a first responder in New York City.
