    Nassau County is warning residents against swimming at 18 beaches on Saturday because of possible elevated bacteria levels, the Nassau County Department of Health announced. Stormwater runoff caused by rain on Friday could have impacted "bathing water quality by elevating bacteria levels." health officials said in a news release. The county described Saturday’s advisory as a "precautionary measure" targeting beaches that have historically been impacted by stormwater.

Saturday’s high temperature will be 72 degrees. There’s a chance for rain all day, but showers are likely this afternoon when there will be a "slight chance of thunderstorms,’ according to NWS meteorologist John Murray. "Shower chances will remain through the day with the overall low pressure not being too far away," he said.

    Long Island MacArthur Airport is getting a new airline that plans to offer multiple daily flights between Islip and Boston beginning in July, Islip Town officials announced on Thursday. Cape Air will be the sixth commercial airline to fly out of MacArthur Airport. The company operates a fleet of twin-engine planes that seat about 10 passengers for regional flights in the Northeast, the Midwest, Montana, and the Caribbean, according to Cape Air’s website.
