Mangonada at El Fogón Taqueria 1327 E. Chandler Blvd., #108, Phoenix In Ahwatukee, the tables at El Fogón Taqueria are always full. This neighborhood destination is loved for its creative tacos, hearty plates and refreshing cocktails. Just next door, two small entryways lead to an additional space, serving sweets and snacks. There, a machine is devoted to cranking out fresh mango sorbet. This is the base of a few different desserts, including an exceptional rendition of a classic mangonada.

On Sunday, chef Donald Hawk will put up his last plates at Valentine. Hawk has run the kitchen at the Arizona-centered, award-winning Melrose restaurant since it opened in late 2020. The chef announced his upcoming departure on May 14. He’s heading north to Las Vegas, not to cook, but to join his partner and start a job working in ecological supervision.

Ghost Donkey, Palma and Blue Sushi Sake Grill are the first three restaurants announced to join Heritage Park, a 10-acre dining, shopping and residential area in the works at Gilbert Road and Juniper Avenue.
