    In July 2023, Mexico-based Buqui Bichi Brewing took a major leap, opening its first location in the United States. The brewpub made its debut in Chandler, offering imported beer and a Mexican-fusion food menu. In January 2024, the company expanded its Arizona footprint and opened a second location in downtown Phoenix. But now, the brewery no longer has any locations in Arizona or the U.S. As of May 1, the downtown Phoenix taproom is closed. Buqui Bichi is based in Hermosillo, Mexico.

    Five Arizona brewers took home medals at the World Beer Cup on Thursday. The World Beer Cup is an international competition hosted by the Brewers Association, which also honors brewing excellence through the Great American Beer Festival awards. The World Beer Cup, often dubbed the “Olympics of beer competitions,” was held in Indianapolis as part of the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo.

    Sorso Wine Room Scottsdale wine bar and restaurant Soro Wine Room closed after just over 10 years in late April. The modern space was known for its wide wine list with 150 selections. It also sold bruschetta, flatbreads, sandwiches and other snacks perfect for pairing with a glass of wine. Sadly, April was a big month for restaurant closings in Phoenix. Some long-term spots served their last customers, including one sandwich shop that closed after 76 years.
